Wedding Photography in the Italian Lakes

Italian lakes Wedding Photographers

The Italian Lakes are great destinations for weddings and are becoming increasingly popular for our Italian Wedding Photography. The Italian lakes are situated in the north of Italy, are fed with fresh water from the Alps and have several amazing grand hotels along the shorelines. The lakes have always been popular with the British and American upper classes due to the fantastic scenery and climate, the Italian Lakes are fast becoming a leading international wedding destination.

There are three main lakes being Lake Garda, Lake Como and Lake Maggiore as well as the lesser known Lake Iseo. All have great transport links with nearby airports at Milan, Brescia and Verona as well as an outstanding road network and rail links. There are several grand hotels and many very good quality three and four star hotels along the shores of the lakes so finding somewhere for your guests is never going to be difficult.

Lake Garda is the largest and most famous of the Italian lakes, it has a fantastic and diverse geography with mountains and sheer cliffs at the northern end leading down to the low lying landscapes of the southern end. The northern areas are more exclusive and offer outstanding panoramic and landscaped wedding photography as well as some grand and exclusive hotels and villas especially around Riva del Garda. The primary method of transport around the lakes is by boat allowing you to explore and take in some of the fantastic scenery, towns and villages that border the lakes.  As an Italian wedding destination, Lake Garda has everything that you would require and is the most popular of the Italian lakes for weddings and wedding photographers alike!

Lake Como is far more sedate than Lake Garda and offers better transport links with an airport at Bellagio at the southern end and nearby Milan. It is less touristy than Lake Garda but is extremely popular with Italians as a result. Again, most of the transport around the lake is by boat but the lake is also on the main railway network. The two main towns on Lake Como are Bellagio and Como, both are stunning in their own right with Como being the principal town on the lake and Bellagio being smaller and more peaceful. Lake Como offers a more sedate and sophisticated wedding venue, complemented by fantastic architecture and a wonderful cathedral in Lake Como.

Lake Maggiore is the second largest lake in Italy and a very popular tourist destination with great transport links.  Actually, the northern end of the lake reaches into Switzerland and is also fed from the Alps. The lake offers some unique features and outstanding landscapes that create truly memorable wedding photographs. The Borromean Islands are well worth a visit and are typically Italian in their perfectly manicured gardens and excellent restaurants.  As the Lake has great transport links with trains direct from Milan and Turin, this is fast becoming the most popular of the Italian lakes as the main wedding location.
